There is no "real" Godzilla. He's a fictional character.

Could have fooled me. And by the way, I think the two versions actually look quite similar.

Yeah, they do, I can see your point of view there about them looking similar.

I am talking about the way he was created, he looks like the original Godzilla from the Japanese films.

That may not be a good thing. I never liked the "rigidly upright and humanoid" thing.

No kidding!  G 2014 owes its existence to G 1998!

G 1998 was an attempt to go into a different direction.  It solidified the fact that the traditional design was the way to go.

I believe that G 1998 was a major milestone for the series because it clearly defined what the direction future G movies should (should not) go.

Yeah, but many people hated that movie, and Toho even simply changed the name of the Godzilla 1998 monster, into Zilla.
But yeah the later movies avoided that. But many people wanted the real Godzilla, and I believe the Godzilla from 2014 is the best.
It just that the other one doesn't even live up to be a Godzilla movie, but I am just speaking from my opinion.

Yes!  G 2014 is the best to date.

G 1998 still has a very large and loyal fan base.  Not as a true Godzilla, but a welcome addition to the series.

Well, yeah it does, when I go to fanfiction and the videos made by fans on YT, it does.
